About me
A mom, teacher, and nature lover, Sevim is passionate about her work in outdoor education. Whether teaching about local flora and fauna or how to start a fire without a match, she ties all her work back to the human need for connecting with nature in a deep, spiritual sense.
In addition to her private children’s classes, Sevim teaches both nature and skills classes for schools and homeschool groups. She also serves as the director of the nonprofit organization Green Muslims, which strives to encourage American Muslims to live in the environmental spirit of Islam through environmental education programing, discussions of Islamic teachings about nature, and naturalist-led hikes.
She is an RYT-200 yoga instructor, a master naturalist, and soon-to-be NAAEE (North American Association of Environmental Education)-certified environmental educator who also has many years of experience as a writer and editor.
